TÜBİTAK BİDEB 2232-A International Fellowship for Outstanding Researchers and 2232-B International Fellowship for Early Stage Researchers Programmes
The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) is the leading R&D funding agency in Turkey and an internationally renowned organization that supports and coordinates scientific research, provides scholarships to researchers and supports R&D activities and innovation in industry by promoting university-industry collaborations.
TÜBİTAK aims to attract leading researchers, particularly Turkish researchers, with international working experience to come to Turkey and conduct their research in leading Turkish academic, industrial or public institutions through its BİDEB 2232 programmes.
The Council has announced the 2021 call of the BİDEB 2232 programmes, the applications for which will be open between March and June30, 2021. The programme is comprised of two sub-categories: BİDEB 2232-A International Fellowship for Outstanding Researchers and 2232-B International Fellowship for Early Stage Researchers programmes. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA | GENERAL |
|
|
Researchers applying to the programme are obliged to be working abroad as of the first day of the application.
|
Researchers applying to the programme are obliged to be working abroad as of the first day of the application and they must be under the age of 40*. *For women applicants, one year is added for each birth.
|
|
Researchers, who will apply to the programme, shall not be located in Turkey more than 6 months within the last 3 years as of the first day of the application. |

|
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA | WORK EXPERIENCE Any one (a/b) of the criteria below should be met. |
|
|
(a) Researchers who have completed their doctoral degrees and at least 4 years have worked for in a university or public research centre abroad as an at least assistant professor, team leader or carried out independent academic research (b) Graduate researchers who have 6-year full-time research experience abroad, provided that they work in private sector for a minimum of 3 years (Maximum 1 year of master degree (with thesis) completed abroad and maximum 3 years of doctoral degree completed abroad is evaluated within this scope). |
(a) Early career researchers who have completed their doctoral degrees within the last 4 years and who have at least 1 year post-doctoral work experience abroad, (b) Graduate researchers who have 4-year full-time work experience abroad, provided that they work in private sector for at least 1 year (Maximum 1 year of a master degree (with thesis) completed abroad and maximum 3 years of doctoral degree completed abroad is evaluated within this scope) |

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA | ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE Researchers who have the work experience set forth above must meet one of the following requirements. |

(a) Being on the "Highly Cited Researchers List" published by Thomson Reuters in any year within the last three years as of the first day of the application, 1. “Unicorn” companies list published by CBInsights and reached 1 billion USD and overvaluation from its venture level |
(a) Being on the “Highly Cited Researchers List” published by Thomson Reuters in any year within the last three years as of the first day of the application,
(b) Working uninterruptedly for 12 months at least in an institution among those ranked below in any year within the last 5 years as of the first day of the application: i. Top 150 universities in the field-based rankings according to QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) or THE (Times Higher Education) World University Ranking 1. “Unicorn” companies list published by CBInsights and reached 1 billion USD and overvaluation from its venture level |

In order for a smooth fulfilment of the administrative requirements for applications, the deadline of which is June 30, 2021, we would like to inform you that the document described below in item (i) should be completed and submitted to the Office of Sponsored Projects (pdo@metu.edu.tr) two weeks before the exact deadline of the call, in order for the document requested by TÜBİTAK and described in item (ii) to be prepared on time.

Please note that eligible applicants also have to find a peer/buddy from METU to liaise between them and the department/faculty as they will be expected to give a course during their stay and need access to departmental and laboratory facilities.
